Speaking about winning the public vote ahead of Sharon Osbourne, John Peel and Jamie Oliver Rowling said… "I'm delighted that Harry Potter continues to give so much pleasure to adults and children, and I'm honoured to receive this award." She
was also quick to confirm she was working on the last instalment of
the Harry Potter series, she added: "I'm enjoying writing the last
book in the series and it's coming along nicely," Rowling says Potter finale 'coming along nicely' London - JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books, said the final volume in the series was 'coming along nicely' as she collected yet another award for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, published last July. The book, the penultimate in the seven-volume series, received the accolade of Book of the Year at the British Book Awards Wednesday evening. It beat competition from TV cook Jamie Oliver (Jamie's Italy) and an autobiography by Sharon Osbourne, the wife of ex-rocker Ozzy Osbourne. Rowling, 40, whose 300 million worldwide book sales have made her a multi-millionaire, said: 'I'm delighted that Harry Potter continues to give so much pleasure to adults and children, and I'm honoured to receive this award. 'I
am enjoying writing the last book in the series and it's coming along
nicely,' she added.
The
pair were among a cavalcade of authors and celebrities who gathered
at London's Grosvenor House for the awards ceremony on Wednesday. The
organizers said the public vote for the 12 categories was "the
biggest ever recorded for any book award." CBBC Newsround has also told us that J.K. Rowling
will be appearing as a guest on The Richard and Judy Show sometime in
June or July of this year, confirming previous reports.
